Student Services

Term 2 has certainly been a new experience for students, families, and staff alike; with remote learning bringing both excitement and challenges. We know too, that even in these strange times life does not stop, so we may continue to face personal challenges which can be made more difficult while in isolation. However, our local community has continued to find ways to come together to offer support.

If you or your child are experiencing distress over the COVID-19 situation, please have a look at these fact sheets from Headspace and Beyondblue that may provide you with some useful strategies.

To support this, the Wellbeing team regularly posts helpful hints, strategies and resources, onto Microsoft Teams, Compass, and the college social media platforms, so that students and parents/ carers can access any support they require.

The Wellbeing team continues to support students and their families, especially while Victoria is engaged in distance education. If you have concerns about your child, please contact the college on 8795 9400, and a member of the Wellbeing Team will contact you back. We understand that this may be a stressful time for our college community, so we have been working hard to keep supporting our students and families, in an ever-changing landscape. We are also regularly posting helpful hints, strategies and resources onto Microsoft Teams, Compass, and the college social media platforms, so that our students and parents/ carers can access any resources they require.

One app that parents/ carers may find helpful is 'Child360'. This app has been designed as a tool for parents to reflect on how they are going in supporting their children’s social and emotional wellbeing and identify areas where action can be taken to strengthen resilience.

Julian Couzins is one of our Psychologists and he is available for phone counselling ( 0419 319 899 – text first).  Students usually need a mental health care plan, but under the current circumstances, Julian is happy to have a chat with any students that are experiencing distress.

We would like to introduce you to our new Student Health Nurse, Patrick Burn. Here is a message from Patrick!

Hi everyone,

My name is Patrick and I’m extremely excited to start as the Secondary School Nurse (SSN) at Hampton Park SC, albeit under these strange circumstances. My role as a SSN is to promote the Health and Wellbeing of young people, and reduce negative health outcomes and risk taking behaviours. This means that I will be able to provide health promotion and education to students around topics such as Sexual Health and Wellbeing, Safe Environments, Drug and Alcohol, Physical Health and Wellbeing, Healthy Eating, and Mental Health and Wellbeing . This can be in the classroom and small groups sessions, while at times individual assessments. I will be located in the Wellbeing Office with the rest of the Wellbeing Team once school recommences at HPSC.

Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions, my email is burn.patrick.p@edumail.vic.gov.au.  I look forward to starting at the school and seeing you all soon!
