STUDIO ARTS EXCURSION TO MUMA & TEN CUBED
On Tuesday 13 August, the Year 12 Studio Art class accompanied by Ms Rogosic, took a day trip to two public art galleries, MUMA (Monash University of Modern Art) and Ten Cubed. Our class happily strolled through the galleries, observing the details of two exceptional exhibitions, BOOKWORKS and Rosemary Laing.
We were granted access with an education officer from both galleries to see behind the scenes of each exhibition, from loan agreements between artist and gallery, to specialised art freighting services and the promotion strategies used to draw an audience.
We got to see how artworks were stored when they are not on display and we learned the strict requirements that galleries had to follow in order to protect their artworks from damage. The guides who ran each tour answered questions to help us prepare for the upcoming SAC on the conservation and preservation practices in art galleries.
Overall, the Year 12 Studio Art class was above satisfied with how the day went and are excited for their upcoming exhibition, as well as the chance to demonstrate their knowledge in the end of year exam.
