Congratulations to David Le of Year 9 who recently attained his AMusA on the piano.
ROYAL SOUTH STREET
Congratulations to the Clarinet Choir who represented the school brilliantly at the Royal South Street competition on Wednesday 4 September. Thank you to Ms Su Rogerson for her development of this group and her organisation of this event.
CLAREMONT TERRACE
Congratulations to the Year 9 Music Performance class who prepared and performed a fabulous concert at Claremont Terrace on Tuesday 10 September. Thank you to all the students who took part and to Ms Katarina Vrisk for her organisation of this event.
GIGS ON THE GREEN
We have had two amazing performances in the last fortnight - Michael Birkett (with Joshua Sacks, Tristan Fuhrer and Chloe James) performed on Friday 6 September. Thanks to Genevieve Halford, Mimi Bernstein, Jing Tian Zhang, Ava Guerrero, Jack Sweeney, Toby Wundheiler, Andrew Seamer and Mr Lynch for their performances in the open mic performance on Friday 13 September.
It has been fantastic to see so many students up and performing to an ever growing crowd! This Friday sees Chloe and Grace James complete the Term 3 calendar. Thank you to Mr Kurowski and the team for making this an amazing event.
MARKET DAY GIGS ON THE GREEN
It was fantastic to see so many bands and soloists performing at the first Market Day, Thursday 12 September. Thanks to The Bolshevix, Betty Wang, Mimi Bernstein, Chloe James, Jack Sweeney, Boys on a Budget, Anthea Dimas, Naomi Kricheli, Liz Lanaras, Isabella Eikelis, Maskit Matityahu, Jonathan Pardo, Lachlan Edis, Karen took the Kids, and Stand Out for providing an amazing days’ worth of performances. Thanks again to Mr Kurowski and the student team for making this possible.
VIOLIN MASTERCLASS
Friday 13 September saw an exciting opportunity for the advanced string students to perform and watch a masterclass with Natsuko Yoshimoto, Concertmaster of Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. It was an amazing opportunity for all the students who attended. Thanks to Ms Clare Bugeja for her organisation of this event.
BIG BAND BASH
Congratulations to all the students who were involved in the Big Band Bash on Friday 12 September in the School Hall. There were outstanding performances from the Junior Stage band, the Intermediate Stage Band, the Senior Stage Band, the Clarinet Choir, the Bolshevix and Stand Out. Thanks to the MC for the night Mr Gordon Stooke, and thanks to the Ensemble Directors, Mr West, Ms Rogerson and Mr Serebrianik for their development of their groups. Thanks to Mr Serebrianik for his organisation of the event.
SPRING SOIREE
Monday 16 September saw the last performance for the Class of 2019 in the ensembles of Orchestra, Chamber Strings and Symphonic Wind. It was a fantastic and emotional performance where the Year 12 students were farewelled and thanked for their outstanding contribution to the music program at McKinnon. Thank you to Ms Tracy Videon, Ms Clare Bugeja and Ms Su Rogerson for their development of these students and for the organisation of the event.
ASIA WEEK CONCERT
Congratulations to Dustin Yu, Tia Finn and Chloe James who performed for the Asia Week Concert on Tuesday 17 September. The standard of performance was quite high.
VCE LEADERSHIP AWARDS CEREMONY
Congratulations to the Clarinet Choir who represented the school at the VCE Leadership Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 18 September in the city. The performance demonstrated your commitment to the school and your developing music capabilities. Thanks to Ms Su Rogerson for organising this opportunity and developing the students.
VCE MUSIC PERFORMANCE
Congratulations and good luck to the Year 12 Music Performance students for their fantastic final concert as a class on Thursday 19 September. The standard of performance was very high and we wish you well as you head towards your end of year examinations on your instruments. We will miss you greatly. Thank you to Mr Kurowski for his organisation of the night and his ongoing development of these students.
