Principal's Report

NAPLAN Data Results

Much is said about the NAPLAN testing regime every year and it is a necessary task that we must complete.  That being said, I would like to congratulate all of the St. Finbar's Staff and Students for the outstanding results that we have achieved this year.  The data for 2019 is the strongest we have achieved across all areas in over a decade!  This is not only attributed to our wonderful Year 3 and 5 Teachers, but it is reflective of all St. Finbars staff.  From the intervention work that is completed in the Junior school with Reading Recovery and Levelled Literacy Intervention, to the extension work and skilled classroom teaching in all classrooms, I would like to acknowledge everyone's efforts.  I have attached St. Finbar's results below for your viewing.  All Year 3 & 5 student individual results will come home today in a sealed envelope.

Upcoming Cyber Safety Evening

On the evening of Tuesday September 10th at 7.00 PM, St Finbar’s will be hosting a Parent focused Cyber Safety session in the school hall.  We highly recommend Parents attend this workshop to help learn how to protect and minimise online risks for their children. The evening will provide insight into the online worlds of young people including the latest trends, risks and research, and include a strong focus on social media. It also focuses on advice parents can use to help manage a child’s life online.

Through participation in this workshop you will:

Develop an understanding of the appeal of social media and how to support young people to stay safe.

Know where and how to report inappropriate content and how to best support young people who are experiencing harm.

Be equipped with the latest research regarding online behaviour.

This will be an informative and valuable evening that will answer many questions regarding Cyber Safety and how to best support your children in regards to their use of technology.

If you are attending the evening please complete the form: Cyber Safety Evening Attendance
