Principal's Message

              Mrs Josie Crisara

Year 12 Class of 2018

On Tuesday, 23 October we had the  ‘Year 12 Celebration Day’. The day commenced with a farewell breakfast for Year 12 students and staff.  Their final Chapel and Assembly was a touching finale and an emotional time as they balance leaving school and friends and their time at school with the excitement about moving on and looking forward to the next very exciting stage of their lives.  We thanked the Year 12 students for their many achievements and contributions to our school.

The following students (see attached) received awards:

Long Tan Award: Phoebe D -  Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award for 2018

With the farewells behind them, they can now focus fully on their study, revision and examinations, which begin next Wednesday. Our final celebratory event will be the Year 12 Valedictory event later in November.

We prayed the following prayer (prayer of St Therese) for the Year 12 students as they finish

May today there be peace within.

May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be confident knowing you are a child of God.

Let this presence settle into your bones,

and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.

It is there for each and every one of you.

Amen.

Young People and Sleep Habits

Michael Grosse recently wrote an article where he looked at sleep habits of young people.  Suggestions for improving habits include:

  1. Getting young people away from digital devices at least 90 minutes before bed
  2. Young people doing homework in their rooms should do so at a desk rather than on their bed
  3. Young people need to spend time outside:  A minimum of an hour outside a day helps improve sleep
  4. Sleeping in late on weekends can impact sleep patterns:  Sleep-ins should be no more than an extra hour.
