THE TERM 1 WRAP UP

Term 1 is officially done and dusted! In just one term, our students have already accomplished some incredible milestones.

One of the more memorable events this term was the Year 10 Pop-Up Art Show. Curated by our Year 10 students, the show was a huge success! Music and refreshments, organised and distributed by our Art Teachers and Art Captains, circled throughout the T-Block gallery space, mimicking the atmosphere of an opening night.

The show provided our talented students with an opportunity to showcase their artwork to the school community and celebrate their successes with friends and teachers. This dynamic collection of artwork, as with all other work each year, is usually kept under wraps until the end of the year for the Art Show. After rave reviews from students and teachers, we now plan to hold at least one Pop-Up Art Show each term for the rest of the year. Keep an eye on Compass!

Our Year 12 students in Art Creative Practice, Visual Communication Design, and Media also made significant strides this term. In ACP, students have completed the first practical component of their SAT folio. This has included refining a wide range of art forms from oil painting, drawing, sculpture to even textiles and dressmaking.

In VCD, our students have just finished their Unit 3 Outcome 1 folio work, creating packaging nets and surface graphic designs, as well as designing products to meet the needs and experiences of a wide range of audiences. As for Media, our students have been working tirelessly within their folios to plan for, research and apply some of the key skills studied in Unit 3. We are very excited to see what our VCE students accomplish in Term 2.

Last week, we also celebrated the opening of the Top Designs 2023 exhibition. We were honored to have Michelle Guo, who as you may know, was chosen to exhibit her 2022 VCD folio work. The exhibition is currently open at the Melbourne Museum until Sunday 9 July. I highly recommend that you visit the Museum and see the amazing collection of work from last year's high achieving students in VCD, Media, Product Design Technology and more!

Remember as well that the art competition is still on! We are looking forward to seeing the Sci-Fi inspired artworks our students create over the holidays.

Thank you to the Visual Arts staff for their dedication and commitment.

Enjoy the holidays!
