Introducing our 2023 School Leaders

S.Cummings - Stage 3 Assistant Principal

Congratulations to our recently elected 2023 School Leaders:

Chloe & Aedan - Captains

Olivia & Spencer - Vice Captains

To learn about our new leaders, they were asked to provide some information about themselves. I thank them for their time, honesty and thoughtfulness in their detailed individual responses. 2023 will certainly be a busy year of leadership.

Why I wanted to become a school leader in 2023 at St Johns Park Public School?

I wanted to become a school leader with the hopes of providing an opportunity for students to raise their voices on concerns that matter as well as encouraging a greater sense of community in the school environment. As this leadership role enables me to become more involved in school initiatives, I believe it will also allow me to embrace new challenges and commit myself to continuously grow as a responsible individual.

Three interesting facts about myself

One of my passions has been playing the piano. I began when I was 5 years old.

I really enjoy ice skating after experiencing the rink for the first time this year.

A hobby I enjoy is baking in my free time where my favourite things to bake are cupcakes and cookies.

Why I wanted to become a school leader in 2023 at St Johns Park Public School?

Becoming a school leader has been my goal since Year 2 when I first learnt what a leader was. This was my only chance to experience something many would not therefore giving me an opportunity and upper hand in the future. With being a leader, I will experience leadership, develop my public speaking and collaboration skills. I will also have a chance to meet many incredible people.

Three interesting facts about myself

I am extremely afraid of birds and for a good reason. I was at the park with my siblings and then I ran to a desolate part of the park, then I saw a magpie coming my way. My natural instinct was to run. The magpie squawked while chasing me around for 30 seconds. Luckily it was harmless.

When I was younger, I always told my friends I would become the Cookie Monster when I grew up and I meant it. Whenever I ate dried seaweed from Costco, I would make a mess to imitate the Cookie Monster.

When I was younger I loved climbing everything from trees to walls. One particular day I felt the urge to climb. I climbed up on the shed then I took a leap of faith and managed to climb up. My siblings were absolutely hyped! I got in big trouble because my neighbour told my aunty.

Why I wanted to become a school leader in 2023 at St Johns Park Public School?

I want to represent our school and show the community how to do the right thing and be a good role model to the younger generation and even peers older than me. It all started in Kindergarten when I saw the school leaders. I knew that I wanted to be just like them and pursue this role. It has always been a thought in the back of my mind and here we are, I am so proud to say that I am a school leader. As a leader I need to acknowledge that we are all amazing in our own ways if we are fully committed and always give 100%. I know that this role requires many skills so I will try my best in everything I do. I am so thankful for this opportunity.

Three interesting facts about myself

Weekly I go to a dance for 7 hours. I have been doing this since I was 4 years old.

I have 2 dogs which are gold in colour. They are both Pomeranians, named Lexi and Willow.

I am lactose intolerant so I don’t eat dairy often. The only milks I drink are oat and almond.

Why I wanted to become a school leader in 2023 at St Johns Park Public School?

The reason why I wanted to become a school leader is because I would like a sense of recognition. It feels terrific to see children in younger grades look up to you. I would like to be a good example of how a kind and respectful student should be. I have always looked up to past school leaders when I was younger and I have some experience in leadership. I was a class SRC many times at SJPPS. I felt like it was my responsibility to lead and represent this school well, just like our previous leaders have done.

Three interesting facts about myself

My favourite fast food chain is McDonalds. I like to eat there on the weekend.

When I grow up my dream career is to become a lawyer to follow in my dad's footsteps.

My favourite school subject is all of them. I love each one equally.
