LEADERSHIP SCHOOL

YEAR 9 LEADERSHIP SCHOOL

Marty Cook, Ryan Zuidema, Holly Fowler and Oliviah Joyce are four KSC students who have just completed Term 4 at the School for Student Leadership – Gnurad Gundidj Campus, in Western Victoria near Warnambool.

The Leadership School is 1 of 4 campuses located throughout Victoria and is an amazing opportunity for students to participate in an alternative education setting for term 4. During this time they live with students from all over Victoria in dorms as well as participate in a wide variety of outdoor and leadership activities.

The students have enjoyed their time at the Leadership school and share some of their experiences below.

Marty

In my time away, I have learnt a whole lot of really great leadership skills, and most importantly, I have pushed myself physically and mentally in most situations. Some examples of places when I was challenged are: Expedition 1 and 2, Surfing, Raft Building, Bridge Building, Tandem Biking and more. I have personally loved my time here and I am seriously going to miss this place.

Ryan

Its been really fun and enjoyable here, it’s a life changer to do.

I have done things here that I would never have done back home. I also found life long mates.

Oliviah

“Woah, what an adventure! Gnurad has been such an amazing experience-I have learnt so much physically and mentally and can’t wait to come back to implement this into my everyday life onward. I made many new life-long friends and taken so many grand opportunities. I have been able to wake up here with such a positive attitude and so much motivation and excitement to look forward to for the day ahead. I am a little sad my time here is coming to a halt as I have had such a ball but I am glad to come home, see everyone and teach others some cool things!”

Holly

My time at Gnurad-Gundidj has been something I will never forgot. I have grown and improved as a person and a leader, I have made many new friends that I have had the best experiences with!! I have gone surfing, I have thrown a boomerang and I have been in a volcano crater! I will never forget the amazing time that I have had here.

PRESENTATION DAY

It was presentation day on Friday 2nd December for our students who have spent the term at the Gnurad Leadership School.

Unfortunately our teachers weren’t able to attend the campus due to a high number of Covid cases. However, Ms Burke, Ms Neill and Ms Handley cheered our students on while watching them online discussing their chosen topic of inclusive environments.

Students return home this weekend and then they will  put their Community Lead Project (CLP) into action.
