The Great Lee St Fete

Don't Throw Anything Out Over the Holidays. Keep it for the Fete!

Silent Auction

As you will know, the fete is returning on 26 March 2023 to raise money for our school.  The silent auction will also be returning and is one of the biggest fundraising arms of the school fete.

Some examples of donations we have generously received in the past have included goods, services (ie massage, or beauty treatment) experiences (such as holiday accommodation or an opportunity to particular in an activity ) craft (ie ceramics, and textiles) and vouchers. All donations whatever size are welcome!

If you would like to donate please email CNPS.silentauction@gmail.com or alternatively telephone Bess 0408 563 331 or Raylyn 0423 713 158 and we can assist.

We are also looking for any additional helpers to assist us in approaching and collecting donations.

We are grateful for any support we can receive!

Save your unwanted items for the Fete’s Clothing and Book Stalls!

Over the summer break, if you find yourself wanting to take the opportunity to do a clean out of unwanted items, please set aside any suitable items for our second-hand fete stalls, including clothes and books. We run these stalls on 100% donations, so we would be grateful for any suitable items (in good condition!) that you would like to donate. It’s also a great way to be sustainable!

Items that we will be looking for include:

  • Clothing – babies, kids, and adults
  • Shoes
  • Accessories – jewellery, handbags, hats, scarves, belts etc.
  • Kids’ pyjamas and (new) swimwear
  • ‘Dress-ups’
  • Books
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Vinyl records

We will be collecting donations a few weeks prior to the fete and will provide more information at the start of term on where you can drop off your donations.

Thanks for your support!

Jams and Preserves

With the long summer break ahead of us, and cheap fruit and vegetables all around, now is the time to start making your preserved goodies for next year’s Fete. It is also the perfect time to hold on to empty jars (with lids), and bring them into school for others to collect and fill.  We have a box waiting for you now, it's in front of the office window (just under the ledge).  Small to medium sized jars are best.

  • Jamming and preserving is easy.  If you are unsure what to make, send me an email and I will send you some suggestions
  • The last time the Fete was run there were requests for more chilli items, more pickles and more classic berry jams.
  • If you are getting started early, please ensure your produce is well sealed and won't expire before the Fete.
  • Remember to sterilize your jars.  There are many easy methods, usually a bit of boiling and oven time.

Plants

We need your help!! We are planning for a beautiful lush plant stall at the Fete next year and need…lots of plants! If you, or someone you know, is able to cultivate some clippings or seedlings between now and March, please get your green thumbs into action.

We’d love any type of greenery:

Indoor plants

Outdoor plants

Natives

Flowers

Edibles (herbs etc)

Other items we could also use include:

Plant/gardening books to donate

Unused empty decorative pots

Unopened packets of seeds

Worm tea from worm farms (or jars to collect worm tea)

White clothes rack/hanger for hanging pots

Plant stands

Rattan chairs/table to borrow for the stall

If you happen to be a crafty type, as well as a green thumb, why not try to whip up a few macrame hangers to go with your beautiful pot plants.

Thanks in advance for your green help!

We have had so many new faces join the existing fete crew, thank you so much to all these wonderful people giving their time to our fabulous community event. There are still some key roles to fill, we would love to hear from you if you are interested to volunteer of one of these roles, or grab a friend and do it together! We can provide lots of support as you need it and you’ll have plenty of volunteers on the day.

  • Sustainability co-ordinator – an ideal role for someone passionate about our school’s contribution to a sustainable future (working across the fete helping us all keep sustainability top of mind).
  • Graphic design – anyone with design skills could manage this role, mainly requiring updating to existing marketing collateral and some social tiles, etc.

Let Gaby know at the office if you are interested in any of these roles.

Requests for volunteers (for stalls, set up and pack up etc) will be posted early next year. If you can’t do a key role, have a think over the summer about where you might like to volunteer on the day or in the lead up.

The Lee St Fete needs all hands on deck!
