A message from Melton Highway Patrol

Dear Melton Secondary College and Melton Specialist School parents / guardians

Melton Highway Patrol members have been out and about with the return to school this week patrolling around Coburns Road.  We have been focusing on student safety by enforcing parking and speeding restrictions.  It has become apparent that drivers are parking wherever they want in contrary to the numerous signs around the schools.

Of particular concern are the cars double parked waiting to enter Melton Specialist School making it difficult for other cars to drive through the area and unsafe for children as they are forced to manoeuvre between cars.

The other issue is drivers entering and parking in the area designated for buses only. This may have been allowed by the school during the peak of COVID but it needs to stop.  This area needs to be kept clear so the buses arriving have space to park and children can get on and off safely.

If you’re unable to park legally close-by, please park a street or two away and walk to collect the children.  It will also teach them about road safety.

Please remember to be patient around schools.  This will provide a safer environment for the children.

Please be safe on our roads.
