Hands on Learning (HoL)

Hands on Learning (HoL) 2023

"A practical school wellbeing program that builds engagement and develops social and emotional skills, confidence and capacity.  Students spend one day a week outside the classroom working collaboratively on authentic, creative, projects around the school and in the local community.

Hands on Learning days are carefully defined with expectations, boundaries and consistent parameters, real projects, and structured reflective practice which is at the heart of the Hands on Learning methodology."

Hi From Daithi And Lily At The HoL Hut!

Daithi & Lily
Daithi & Lily

We are excited to be welcoming a team of new and returning students to HoL for 2023.  We have a diverse range of projects ahead of us this year, including garden care and bench construction on the Senior Campus, developing and building the wellbeing garden and benches, assisting with the school production, building vegetable wicking beds in the HoL space and cooking delicious food!

While we have a big list of practical jobs, we are anchored in student wellbeing and endeavor to create a safe and positive environment for our students to excel in new ways.

We are always open to hear from you regarding potential students that may benefit from the program.  We work with a diverse range of students, so if you have a student in mind, please speak to their Head of Year or the Wellbeing Team regarding a referral to our program.

If you would like to learn anything more about the HoL program you are welcome to visit during lunchtime on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and the end of Term Pizza days in the last week of term which is open to everyone!

Have a great Term 1!

Ms Lily Dononan and Mr Daithi Condon
