Careers

Welcome to Careers 2021

Welcome to 2021, Congratulation to all our 2020 Year 12 students who after a challenging year are on their next exciting journey to further education or employment, good luck to all these students and we look forward to hearing about what you up to.

Again, this year students will use the Edu Pass system to engage in the Education Departments Career Insights, this program will support the Career Action Plan online digital portfolio and many more resources and process that will accompany students throughout their education journey.  It is a valuable process and is available as the foundation or ongoing career investigation and goal setting.  I will work closely with Junior and Senior schools to ensure we have follow up and all students have an opportunity to discuss any questions they have.

Students can give permission for Parental / Carer access. Please take the time to talk to your students about this and contact me if you would like more information or are having trouble accessing the site.

Year 9 students will complete their individual Morrisby Online profile on 11 February 2021 and follow up sessions will be the following week; this is an ongoing opportunity as part of the Year 9 Career Insights program. The Morrisby is a great tool and can be reviewed at any time; it supports student engagement, decisions about future subject selection, work experience choices and career investigation.

We will be doing some follow up activities in term two to get students thoughts and reflection on the process and how we can ensure they are getting the full benefit to guide their careers and education moving forward.

Year 10 students

Congratulation to those year 10 students who have organised their work experience placement very well done.

Work Experience is the final week of term 2 June 21 – 25, this will come around very fast. Please support your child to be organised.

I am available to support students to find a placement;  I do not find the placement.

Part of the journey is student’s initiating the investigation, making contact, following up and persisting to arrange a placement, encourage and assist your child to investigate do not do it for them, sometimes the getting there and the hurdles are the most valuable experience.

I am available lunch times Monday – Thursday and am happy to meet with students after school.  Please contact me careers@scoresbysc.vic.edu.au if you have any questions.

The Career newsletter that is uploaded weekly to the careers website; https://scoresbysccareers.com/, it has loads of interesting information please also take the time to have a look at the careers website.

Hard copies of the newsletter are available in the careers room and senior school hub. A copy will be emailed to all senior school students via their scoresby email address.
