Achilles Community Report

Thank you

We would like to say a big thank you and congratulations to all of our wonderful students and their families. What a crazy year it has been!

Despite everything that went on throughout the year, our students have done an absolutely amazing job adapting back into the classroom. We are so proud of each of them and we wish them all the very best for their bright futures ahead.

An overview of our Term 4 learning

Throughout the term students have worked very hard. They have faced many challenges this year  and the way they settled back into the classroom after remote learning was fantastic.

In reading this term, students explored different types of comprehension such as literal, inferential and evaluative. They practised building up their reading stamina for independent reading and had the opportunity to conference with a teacher.  Students also revised previous topics such as fluency, monitoring and phonological awareness.

In Writing students explored different text types which included persuasive texts and information reports. They participated in weekly spelling and sound investigations and practised extending their vocabulary to suit their text type.

In Mathematics students explored the topics of fractions, time and financial literacy. Students used hands on materials and made connections to real life in particular when creating different fractions in the form of a pizza or cake and dividing them into equal parts. We also revised previous topics from the past which included counting, addition and subtraction and place value.

We hope you all have a wonderful and safe break with your families and we look forward to seeing you next year.

Kind regards,

Carla, Fanny, Addy and Elin
