Pathways and Transition

Cheyenne Palko (Year 11) is enjoying her work placement at Tiny Beez Mt Claremont and they love having her there. It was great to see Cheyenne interacting with the toddlers and staff at the centre. She is currently completing a Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care at North Metropolitan TAFE through the VET in Schools Program. Well done Cheyenne!

Workplace Basics: The Competencies Employers Want

Why you should bother to write a resume

Your resume is an introduction to potential employers and a record of your achievements,

we’ve put together some tips on writing yours. Once it’s written, it could not only help you

land a job, but it could help to save time and brain power when you’re writing other

applications too, (e.g. for university courses or scholarships).

It may seem like a pointless exercise if you’re still at high school and all the examples

you’ve seen so far list huge career histories, with mountains of work experience and

qualifications already listed.

Well, that may not apply to you just yet. But if you approach your resume writing with

enthusiasm and with the aim of highlighting your strengths, you might be pleasantly

surprised by the volume of material you’ve already got to showcase about you.

UCAT: Frequently Asked Questions1.

1. What's the format of the UCAT?

The UCAT is a 2-hour computer-based test consisting of 233 multiple-choice questions divided into 5 subtests - Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Situational Judgement.

2. Should students train for the UCAT?

From my UCAT teaching experience, students perform better after they practice the online exam format and question styles. Your students are invited to create a free account to try theory lessons, quizzes, and complete a free full UCAT exam on our online exam simulator.

 3. When should I start studying for the UCAT?

Students become busy during Year 12 with the demands of the HSC. Many successful students start UCAT study in the December-January school holidays to minimise the workload during their HSC year.

4. Which universities require the UCAT?

The UCAT is used to assist with the selection of students into Medicine and Dentistry at the following universities:

NSW - The University of New South Wales

NSW - The University of Newcastle/ University of New England

NSW - Western Sydney University

SA - The University of Adelaide
