Around The Primary
Dear Parents,
It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas around the Primary school! On Monday evening we hosted our Music Soiree, this is always a very special musical event with performances from the Year 5 and 6 Bands, Primary Singers, Mini Minors, String Orchestra, Wanju Voices, Primary Guitar Ensemble, Ukulele Ensemble and culminating with the Combined Choir singing some Christmas carols. Congratulations to all involved!
This week our Kindy and Pre-Primary students shared the Christmas story in delightful ways for their families. The staff have spent time with the children talking about the real Christmas story. They have had so many wonderful discussions about the angels, the wise men, the shepherds, Mary and Joseph and, of course, the arrival of the special baby, Jesus. They are so excited about Christmas approaching and constantly remind us of the joy and wonder of being in the moment.
It is hard to believe that there are only four more sleeps until the Year 4 Christmas Performance, ‘A Very Elfie Christmas!’. The students, under the expert direction of Ms Cattapan and Mrs Haydon, have been working hard to perfect their roles. The students are getting very excited to be performing under lights in the Library courtyard. It has all the signs of being a festive and fun production.
In regard to next year, we cannot stress enough, the importance of downplaying which of their peers may or may not end up in your child’s class. While staff have once again worked very hard on creating class lists that take a myriad of factors into account, in the end, all children need to learn to navigate their way through different teaching styles and different class make-ups.
It was great to see so many excited and happy faces at the close of the day as the children shared the good news of who their teachers and classmates were going to be. Our job as significant adults in a child’s life, is to model confidence in their ability to work through any perceived worries or challenges and to let them know we are all here to support them.
Congratulations to the recipients of the 2020 Awards for Year 6. We are very proud of their wonderful achievements.
