Year 8.1 Music Class

Miss Roache's music class have been working towards their performance pieces all term. On Friday last week, they presented their three pieces to a small audience of staff who enjoyed their rendition of 'The Scientist', 'Sweet Child of Mine' and 'Smoke on the Water'. Everybody had a role and Miss Roache expressed how much she enjoyed teaching them this year. We are sure that our Performing Arts staff and students are going to enjoy the facilities in our new Performing Arts Centre at the end of 2021!

Z-Club

Our College Z-Club (Zonta International) have been working hard to pack up 400 birthing kits which will be sent to developing countries. These kits will go a long way towards safe birthing practices.   The boxes were packed on Monday with special thanks to Mrs Russell, Mrs Stoessel, Kara and Charlotte for helping with this important service project.

Teacher Farewells and Awards

On Thursday we acknowledged the contributions of our staff at O'Connor over the past year. Staff who were retiring were presented with gifts to show our appreciation for their work at O'Connor and some additional awards were also presented for those who had reached milestones in their employment at O'Connor. Thank you to our leaders, teachers, and support staff for their efforts and commitment during a year to remember.

Farewell Mr Steve McIlveen

Mr Steve McIlveen was farewelled this week by staff at O'Connor. Steve has had a long association with Catholic Education in the Armidale Diocese and will be sorely missed as one of our regular casual teachers at the College. After attending UNE and St Albert's College, Mr McIlveen  commenced teaching in Albury and went on to teach at schools in Sydney and Played for Mount St Mary's Rugby League club.  He taught at Farrer Agricultural High Schoo in Tamworth, John Paul College, Coffs Harbour and McCarthy Catholic College before finishing the lat 6 years of his teaching career at O'Connor.  We will miss you Steve, thanks for all your hard work.
