CEO'S Report

Louise Smith

Welcome to the end of 2020!

Wow what a year it has been.  Happy to say and fingers crossed we are over the worst of it for Covid-19 as we continue to slowly move back to a normal life.

A big congratulations and pat on the back for all the teachers, school welfare and careers staff, community workers and public servants in our midst who have done an amazing job supporting young people, each other and going the extra mile to make this year run as smoothly as possible given the trying circumstances.  It is testimony to you all – and the City LLEN staff to see how well people adapted and focused on the needs of those most vulnerable during the challenges of lockdown.  We have all learnt to work in different ways.  The body of work we are able to produce at the LLEN, despite SWL coming to a grinding halt in March has proven that we can work from home and remain diligent, flexible and innovative in our service delivery.  A special thanks to Andrew Smith who went the extra mile on more than one occasion for the young people in our LLEN, thank you for your hard work.  Thanks to Claire, Wendy and Sharon for their support and work over the year too.

I would also like to draw attention to the support and knowledge exchange provided by the wonderful members of our voluntary board.  Their good humour, advice and commitment to evening zoom meetings were a much welcome addition to our working from home this year and essential for helping us make sense of the whirling changes happening around us, thank you to all.  Farewell and big thanks to the indomitable, cheery and funny Senior Constable Dianne Bloom, a wonderful police woman who is leaving our board to take up a role in the country. We wish her all the best and lots of great snow seasons.

Looking forward to seeing you all again in 2021.
