Grade 3/4 Staff

Welcome to 2021 Grade 3/4 Staff

Kate Alcock (Grade 3/4A and Team Leader)

My name is Miss Kate and I am so excited to be teaching Grade 3/4 in 2021.  I began teaching at South Melbourne Primary School during Term 2 of 2020. I taught 3/4B in 2020, which means that some of my students may already know me.

Before I came to SMPS, I was a Grade 6 teacher in Brisbane, Queensland. I had lived in Brisbane my whole life with my Mum, Dad, brother and sister. I grew up on lots of land and always loved being outside. Whether it was running, swimming, or just playing – you would rarely find me inside.

Not much has changed now that I am a grown-up. I still love being outside, running, swimming and playing. My favourite sport is netball, and I’m also a big fan of yoga. My goal is to run a marathon (42km!). Maybe you can all help to inspire me.

Ross MacDonald (Grade 3/4B)

This year is going to be so much fun and I’m super excited to be a teacher at SMPS. I’m really enjoyed celebrating Christmas with my family over the holidays.  I have a puppy called Sadie. My favourite ice cream flavour is boysenberry.

I can’t wait to get to know all of the people at this wonderful school. I hope you had a wonderful summer break with your loved ones! You deserved a fun filled holidays after

working so hard in 2020.

Megan Hartwick (Grade 3/4C)

My name is Miss Megan. I’m really looking forward to teaching my class in 2021! This will be my fourth year of teaching and my third year at SMPS. I have taught Grade 1 for the past two years and I am so excited to teach Grade 3/4 next year! I love working at our school and I am so grateful to work with such amazing teachers and students.

I grew up on the other side of the world in Canada and moved to Melbourne in 2017. I love living in Australia, but I do miss the snowy, cold Canadian winters because I love to go skiing and play ice hockey. I also have a dog named Tanner who lives with my family in Canada.

While I have lived in Australia, I have been very lucky to explore many parts of the country, including Uluru, the Daintree Rainforest, and the Great Barrier Reef. Some other things I love to do are hiking, singing, cooking and playing guitar.

Ciona Cox (Grade 3/4D)

Hello! My name is Miss Ciona and I am so excited to be teaching 3/4D. I am originally from Scotland where I grew up and taught for 5 years before moving to Melbourne in January 2020. I was lucky enough to join the wonderful team at SMPS and experience the fantastic community we have here.

In my spare time you can often find me painting, exploring the outdoors or hunting down my next treat to satisfy my sweet tooth. There is nothing I love more than travelling to somewhere new or climbing a hill. I hope to get a chance to explore more of Australia soon.

My favourite country that I have visited is Iceland. The year 2020 was a whirlwind but my highlight was getting engaged to my partner, Harley! I love anything crafty and my favourite colour is blue.

I can't wait to get to know you all and I am really looking forward to the year ahead!

Stephanie Lord (Grade 3/4E)

Hello South Melbourne families and friends!

My name is Miss Steph and I am a Grade 3/4 teacher. It will be my first year teaching at SMPS and I am very excited to meet all the students and parents this year. I was born in Australia but have travelled overseas and hope to see and learn more about the world and other cultures. I love reading, writing, running, video games, design and craft, and have recently started to learn how to nurture plants. I am passionate about teaching and helping children be confident in themselves. Being kind, happy, creative, and getting along with others is important to me and I hope to encourage my class to always smile and be supportive of each other.

I look forward to meeting all the Grade 3 and 4s this year and having a fun year at SMPS!
