Grade 1 Staff

Welcome to 2021 Grade 1 Staff

Susie Patch (Grade 1A & Team Leader)

My name is Miss Susie and I have been teaching for six years. This year will be my second year teaching at SMPS. I love teaching Grade 1 and working at SMPS and I am really looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know you all.

I grew up in Ballina, on the far north coast of NSW, with my parents and my older sister. Since then, I have lived in London, Sydney and Brisbane. I have been lucky to travel to a lot of countries in Europe and see many new places. I have lived in Melbourne for about a year and a half now with my fiancé Karst. I love reading, cooking and going to the beach.

I hope you had a wonderful summer holiday.

Cayleigh Abel (Grade 1B)

I am Miss Cayleigh and I will be teaching an amazing classroom of Grade 1's this year.  I am SO excited!  I have been at SMPS for a year and I feel very lucky to be teaching at this WONDERFUL school with so many amazing children and families!

I love to sing, dance and share very funny jokes! In my spare time, I like to read, run, paint and draw! I have lived in three different countries, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia. I love living in Melbourne as I love going for walks and swims at our beautiful beaches. I have two sisters, one brother and two VERY cute dogs! They are called Doug and Scooby and they are sometimes super naughty.

I love travelling to new countries, meeting people from around the world and eating delicious food. Italy is one of my favourite countries because I just LOVE pizza.

I am so excited to meet you and have lots of fun learning together this year!

Lin Liu (Grade 1C)

My name is Ms Lin and I will be a brand new teacher at SMPS in 2021. I have taught an amazing class of Prep learners at another school in 2020. It is going to be my first year working with the SMPS community in 2021, and I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

I was born and raised in Shanghai, China. My husband and I moved to Australia 3 years ago to continue learning. We live in one of the high-rise apartment buildings in South Yarra.

I am interested in so many things, such as technology, science, books, languages and cooking. The list doesn’t end. I am always so happy when I can learn new things; and one of my passions in teaching is to make sure that every child will also experience the joy and success of learning!

I look forward to seeing you and creating our learning stories together this year.

Sophie Trescowthick (Grade 1D)

My name is Miss Sophie and I have been teaching at South Melbourne Primary School for three years now and I absolutely love it.

A little bit about me: I grew up in NSW on a farm where I rode horses and motorbikes. I even had two pet alpacas! I have two sisters Mimi and Poppy and we are very close. I live in South Yarra and on the weekends, you can usually find me going for a run around the Botanical Gardens or sipping on a coffee at a local café.

I cannot wait to meet you all and your families. I know we are going to have a brilliant year together!
