Sophie Coote (Prep A Teacher & Team Leader)

Hi everyone, my name is Miss Sophie and I am a Prep teacher at SMPS. I am originally from Essex in England and decided to move to Melbourne in 2016 after visiting my brother who was studying here. Whilst my family still live back in the UK, I am lucky to live here with my partner, Sam, and our much loved border collie, Maverick. I have taught a range of year groups throughout my teaching career, but there is something special about supporting children as they begin their schooling experience in Grade Prep. I enjoy getting to know their different personalities and nurturing their love of learning. In my spare time, I like getting outdoors on a run or a walk, listening to podcasts, reading and cooking. I am looking forward to welcoming our newest students and their families to the SMPS community

Carmen Dennis (Prep B Teacher)

Hi, I’m Carmen. I feel very fortunate to be working in this wonderful community. I am in my 6th year and have taught in a variety of settings either through my role as a classroom teacher or mentoring through my volunteer work. My passion is to motivate children to become independent and lifelong learners with a healthy growth mindset. I look forward to a wonderful year filled with curiosity and learning!

Makayla Bulte (Prep C Teacher)

Hello South Melbourne Primary School community, my name is Miss Mak. I am a Prep teacher and cannot wait to welcome all our new families soon. In the classroom I have a big passion for all subject areas, but I hold a special place for literacy and developing a love for reading in our littlest learners. I strive to develop and nurture well rounded learners who are kind, caring and polite.  Away from the classroom I thoroughly enjoy keeping fit and active. I am always down for a game of sport whether that is football, soccer or netball. If I am not running around playing sport, I am most likely enjoying some sunshine down by the beach or spending quality time with family.
