Year 8 Adviser's Report

Wow, I cannot believe that we have come to the end of 2020 school year.   What a journey we have been on. This year has not been the easiest for students, teachers and parents/careers, however everyone has pushed through and we have made it to the end.

Year 8 students have certainly adjusted to the high school rigor and soon will be moving to the next stage of their schooling. I look forward to seeing them blossom in each of their subjects, especially their new electives.

On 20 November, Year 8 participated in their Welfare Day.  During this day the focus was directed to the topics of empathy, cyber bullying and mindfulness.

Students partook in a number of workshops to help them explore the topics of the day.  In the last period of the day all students had time to have some fun and play  ‘Minute to Win It’ games. There were loads of laughs had by all, including teachers.

Moving into Year 9 brings new opportunities in school leadership,  this is in the form of Junior House Captains.  Being a house captain allows students to start developing and working on their leadership skills for now and the future. I would like to congratulate the following students on becoming House Captains for 2021:

Araluen:         Oskar A and Jone C

Corumben:    Jessica H

Narara:           Sarah L, Chloe M and Delany M

Warrigal:        Ava T and James V

My congratulations to students who received a Henry’s Hero or  won a canteen voucher.  Your hard work over the year has been recognised and appreciated by all your teachers.

I would like to show my appreciation to a few people:

Firstly ... My thanks to all  Year 8 teachers for your continued effort, commitment, perseverance and support over an unpredictable year. The students all appreciate you and the work you do for them.

Secondly ...  I would like to thank our Year 8 Deputy Principal, Mrs Natalie Wearne, for her continued support and commitment to the students in Year 8.

Thirdly ... I thank the parents and careers of Year 8 students. This has been a trying year to say the least and I sincerely thank you for the continued dedication to your child’s education and for the support and guidance you give them.

Lastly ... A massive thank you to our Year 8 students. Thank you for your perseverance during a very different school year.  I know it has been a difficult time to adjust to different learning styles but you have all tried your hardest and put in your personal best. Thank you for being an amazing year group.

I  wish Year 8 students and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am looking forward to seeing what 2021 brings us.

Enjoy the break.  Relax, stay safe and be kind to one another.   See you all next year, and remember ...

Self belief is the

secret to success.
