Year 7 Adviser's Report

First year of high school completed for our amazing Year 7!

As you would have heard many times, it has been a difficult year, however, even with all the challenges,  you all did amazingly and I am very proud of each and every one of you. Although many events were cancelled, there were some opportunities for Year 7 students to participate in extracurricular activities including:

         *  Swimming Carnival

         *  Lunch time Futsal

         *  Handball Competition

         *  Welfare/Careers Day

         *  $20 Boss Day

$20 Boss Day

$20 Boss day was a huge success! It was great to see the students come up with some amazing ideas to help raise over $1,700 for Ronald MacDonald House - the most money the market day has ever raised!  I enjoyed going around to all the different stores and had lots of delicious food as well as buying some fantastic items.

Google Classroom

The Year 7 2020 Google Classroom will be archived at the end of the year and I will have some great photos of the posts for the Year 12 Yearbook.  I ask all Year 7 students to join, this space as it is an important space to keep in touch with your peers, share funny stories or memes, and I will be updated with 2021 Assessment Schedules and important news.

The new Year 8 2021 Google Classroom is already up and running.  The code for Year 8 students to join is ylat7ck.

Year 7 Camp 2021

Finally, I have the exciting news that our Year 7 Camp has been rescheduled for 2021! The camp will be at Kincumber Aussie Bush Camp, Term 2, Week 4 Monday 10 May to Wednesday 12 May 2021.   More details will be sent out early Term 1 2021.

Wishing all Year 7 students and their families a happy Christmas and safe holidays.

Looking forward to seeing you all in 2021!

Year 7 2021 Orientation Day

There can be little doubt that this year has been different from those which have come before.  It has posed new challenges, new complications and new guidelines for us to adhere to, but in spite of all that it has not quelled the enthusiasm of students about to make a big transition in their lives.

On Tuesday 1 December Henry Kendall High School held its Orientation Day for those joining us as Year 7 students in 2021.

Over the course of the day students shared a variety of experiences ranging from a run-down on life at Henry Kendall High School, to the struggles of building the tallest tower (using only string, paper and paddle-pop sticks), then the much-anticipated school treasure hunt - culminating in the essential good-bye icy-pole.

A huge thank you to the staff members, peer mentors and community who made this day possible. We cannot wait to see what the next year brings as these students take the next step into high school!
