Deputy Principal's Report -

     Years 8, 10 & 12

As another great year ends, I would like to thank the wonderful Henry Kendall High School community for their hard work and perseverance in 2020!

Readying for 2021 we welcomed Year 6 (into 7, 2021) students on Tuesday 1 December.  We have students joining us from all over the Central Coast with lots of different experiences and ideas on becoming members of our school community.

The highlight of the day was the team building exercise where each group built a tower to represent their collaboration and communication skills.  The day finished with a treasure hunt;  a great way of exploring this new context for our students. Overall we all had such a great day which clearly featured our Year 7 Adviser for 2021, Mr Judd Newton. We extend a huge thanks to Mr Newton for organising such an interesting day and look forward to 2021!

I would like to thank my dedicated Year Advisers who have worked tirelessly with me to ensure that every student at our school has the opportunity to reach their personal best. To Miss Crystal Reynen who has supported Year 8 through the trials and tribulations of being Year 8. She has shown kindness and consideration for all students.  Miss Reynen has also enjoyed many moments of pride as Year 8 have excelled both academically and personally. We look forward to their successful transition into Stage 5.

It has also been a pleasure to work with Miss Cassandra McLennan this year as she has supported Year 10 students.  Miss McLennan had a huge year organising and booking the Year 10 Dinner/Dance venue and making changes in line with COVID restrictions. She was always advocating for Year 10 and has spent many hours making sure all their experiences in 2020 have been fulfilling and perfect. We are all looking forward to an amazing Dinner Dance to celebrate these great students. Looking forward to a fun 2021 with our Senior Students.

Our thanks to Mrs Donna James for the Stage 6 Preparation Program which ran in the last four weeks of this Term. Year 10 loved the activities and truly appreciated the opportunities and experiences available to them in the last weeks of Junior School.

We would like to extend a big thank you to the parents and caregivers of Year 10 students who have supported us with the Stage 6 Preparation Program. This support has enabled the school to provide such wonderful experiences to all students.
