CAPA Report

In the tradition of a dynamic and expressive Creative & Performing Arts Faculty, our final report for 2020 will be expressed in pictures.

In a difficult year for all, our community and society has struggled to find its artistic voice. We have seen how fragile the Arts industry can be and how much we miss it when it is not there.  Schools and CAPA faculties are microcosms of the greater community.  As a team of students and staff we have missed performing our music for Celebration Assemblies, OnTrack, Performing Arts Nights and a range of other opportunities that maybe we took for granted.

Being able to display and exhibit the range and diversity of Photography and Visual Art works has meant that our ability to express the non-verbal and emotional has been silenced in a world that needs its colour and vibrance.  Our ability to identify and connect with a character, express ourselves as individuals and members of a community could, for some time, only be found in the solace of a book; we were not able to read our body language or emotions through a computer regardless of how good we got with remote teaching.

But ... we are coming through it with hopefully a greater appreciation for what is valued in the Arts in our community and Australian society as a whole. The Arts will never have a piece of data or statistic that measures the monetary value of what it means to perform or create.  I hope the greatest lesson our students and staff have learned this year is what culture means to each of us individually and as a community.  Lives are full of colour and vibrance because of it.

Term 4 allowed us to re-engage in these events again.  It was our VISTAS Exhibitions, $20 Boss Performance, Presentation Day performances, Teacher Band Performances, HSC Photography, Visual Art, Music and Drama success, Circus Theatre performance and Celebration Days.  We added Live Streaming to our skills and all this looks forward to the potential of 2021 being something that re-affirms our love and passion for Creative & Performing Arts.
