School Holiday Opening Times

The Library will only be open for the last week (Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July) over the next holiday break for Year 12 students. The LRC will be closed for the first two weeks of the holiday break (27th June – 8th July). Opening hours for the last week will be from 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays.

This is to assist our Year 12 students in their preparation for the Trial HSC exams.

Please note : the LRC will then be closed on the 18th and 19th July, before term 3 recommences on 20th July.

While the SLRC has HSC resources, there are also HSC resources at BMCC library branches – Blaxland, Springwood and Katoomba. Details can be found on the BMCC library website: https://library.bmcc.nsw.gov.au/ .

If you click on the tab “Youth and HSC Resources” on the right of the page, you will then find 2 tabs labelled “HSC resources” (information on what is available for study purposes, and databases) and “HSC collection” (items for students to borrow).

School Holiday Workshops at BMCC Library

Tickets are on sale for Blue Mountains Library July school holiday workshops, led by Ms Naomi Oliver, starting Tuesday, 5th July 2022. All workshops will be delivered in person, across various Blue Mountains Library locations.

Tues, 5th July 2022 | 10:00 – 11:30am at Katoomba Library

Kids workshop: Freeform Wire sculpture - 1.5hr. (20 max)

Let your imagination run wild and create a colourful, freeform wire sculpture. All materials will be provided by the library.

Wed, 6th July 2022 | 10:00 – 11:00am at Katoomba Library

Teen workshop: Zine Design workshop. 12-18yrs, 1 hr. (15 max)

‘Zine – ZEEN/noun: a magazine, especially a fanzine.’Explore DIY zine culture by creating your own publication. Express your fandom or showcase your creative writing and art using old-school techniques.All materials will be provided by the library.

Tues, 12th July | 10:00 – 11:30am at Meeting Room 1, The Hub, Springwood.

Tween Workshop: Loom Beanie Making. 11-18yrs. 1 1/2 hr. (12 max)

Participants must bring 1-2 rolls of chunky wool of choice.

Learn how to weave on a loom and start creating a beanie for winter.

Participants need to bring along 1 or 2 rolls of chunky wool of choice to use to make your beanie and we will provide you with the loom which you can take home to finish & keep or return to the library once complete.

Friday, 15th July 2022 | 10:00 – 11:30am at The Sharon Burridge Hall, next to Blaxland Library Kids workshop: Textured Art. 1 1/2 hr. (20 max).

Use texture plates and interesting surfaces to create unique, abstract art. Techniques include texture rubbings, painting and printing. Please wear art clothes. All materials will be provided by the library.
