Connect

Over the last three weeks, the Wellbeing team have been introducing our Yr 8 students to a range of strategies for developing positive mental health.  The focus of last week’s Connect session was on becoming more aware of negative thoughts, feelings and actions, particularly the trap of different types of self-critical thinking.  Pictured below are some of the thinking traps that were discussed, such as ‘fortune telling’ and ‘catastrophizing’.  Students then brain-stormed how they could transform these types of self-critical thinking traps in to positive, productive and kind thoughts.

Yr 9 Subject Change Requests

Yr 9 students were given the opportunity this week to request changes to their Semester 2 elective subjects.   These requests will be processed over the coming weeks and students will be informed as early as possible as to whether their requested change could be accommodated or not.  Please be mindful that these changes are dependent on staffing and timetabling considerations, so some students will be disappointed.  We encourage students to engage in a range of subjects, so that they open up different pathways and interests to pursue.

The School for Student Leadership

An email will be sent to all Year 9 families seeking expressions of interest for The School for Student Leadership which runs for 9 weeks in Term 4. Don't forget to send expressions of interest to Louise Angwin by EOD Tuesday July 12.
