From the Principal's Desk

Mr Scott Taprell

With Mrs Barrett at the NSW Principal’s Conference, I have the wonderful privilege of filling in as Principal again for our amazing K-12 School. One of the things we have really enjoyed this term is the ability to offer our students a large range of extra curricular activities. This week will see us top over 100 activities this term outside the normal day to day teaching. These activities range from Work Experience for individual students, University presentations to Senior Students, Sporting events K-12, Commerce excursion to Sydney, Debating across Primary and Secondary, Rural Cup where approximately 150 students travelled to Canowindra to do battle for the cup and so many other experiences.

All of this adds to the depth of experiences offered to the students at our beautiful school. This school is a team I am proud of, with staff willing to organise, dedicate their lunches and recesses to preparing teams and then go on the excursions and students that look forward to these activities. It is exciting to see students and teachers alike enjoying these experiences again, experiences that both will remember for years to come.

These experiences also remind me of the value in Public Education where as a team, Students, Teachers and Parents, can provide opportunities beyond the classroom and give students experiences that are not only enjoyable but prepare them for life beyond school, these experiences build trust, teamwork, skills, resilience and also a measure of dedication to an activity, these are skills that are beneficial to these students for the rest of their lives.

I would like encourage this team outlook for our school, we are all here to work together and provide a setting where students have the opportunity to grow and learn and reach out for future goals. At Molong Central students can become whatever they want later in life, we have had students leave to become accountants, doctors, physiotherapists, plumbers, electricians, tilers, builders, mechanics there is no option that is out of reach with the support from the team (parents, teachers and students).

As a team I would like to thank all the parents for their ongoing support of the school. One of the areas this support has been evident is in the school uniform, we rely on parents to assist us in having a school that values school uniform. It demonstrates to staff, students and the wider community that we are proud to be part of the MCS Team a team that many want to represent in sport and now hopefully will support the team each day by being in the school uniform.

School uniform fosters:-

  • equality
  • contributes in student wellbeing and safety, especially during school excursions or when travelling to and from school
  • promotes a positive school identity and image in a variety of community and public settings

Thankyou for your ongoing support with this.

Primary and Secondary have both been working with Welfare Programs which are age appropriate, these are designed to support our students and their Wellbeing so that they are in a positive place to learn. This new program in Years 7-12 is  “The Resiliency Program” which aims to support students and family members through the areas of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. From time to time we will be including with the Newsletter information that may assist parents to have discussions around these three areas. This weeks page focusses on Gratitude, please read this and discuss this with your child as we work together to build a positive mindset around wellbeing for your child.
