Senior Secondary Reform

Many Talents - ONE VCE

From 2023, Senior Secondary education in Victoria is changing. Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) will replace Foundation VCAL. Students in Year 11 currently enrolled VCAL this year we gain credits towards their VPC certificate in 2023. In the future we will also look at providing VCE Vocational Major (VM) which is a new program within the VCE which replaces Intermediate and Senior VCAL.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) will continue to be provided to students transitioning from VCAL to VPC on students' offsite days. ASDAN will also still be offered as a second pathway at Jackson School.

Our Job, Skills & Pathway Coordinator is Vu Nguyen. Vu will hold information sessions for families in Term 3.

Pathway Options 2023

Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC)

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is a new inclusive and flexible certificate.

It will replace Foundation VCAL. It offers an engaging curriculum and additional support for students to develop the work-related skills and capabilities they need to succeed.

At Jackson, the structure of the VPC will be similar to VCAL currently offered:

  • Literacy
  • Numeracy
  • Work Related Skills
  • Personal Development Skills
  • VET (Units of Competency)
  • Structured Workplace Leaning/Work Experience

The VPC will help you progress to the VCE Vocational Major, entry level TAFE, VET or to get a job.

Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Vocational Major

The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is Victoria’s Senior Secondary qualification. It opens pathways to university, higher-level TAFE or VET certificate courses, apprenticeships, traineeships and the workforce.

The VCE is expanding to include the Vocational Major, a 2-year vocational and applied learning program. It will replace Senior and Intermediate VCAL from 2023.
