We started off the day with a toolbox meeting discussing the tasks to be completed and highlighting any safety concerns during the course of the day. We then packed the trailer and set off to the site; on arrival we set up the site with all of the equipment and material needed for the day.

Timber was stacked in a neat pile on the side of the property. One of the first jobs was to prime all the 70mm x 35mm pine timber roofing batons; we used a 3-in-1 primer paint and painted them to help weatherproof them. Another task was to attach the Timber rafters to the bearers; the rafters were measured out and fixed at 900mm from the centre of one rafter to the centre of the next rafter they were fixed using nails, triple grips, joist hangers and cyclone straps.

Once the rafters were fixed into place we used speed bracing (tension bracing system) in an 'X' ' pattern, the bracing was nailed across the top of the rafters to brace rafters and help with stability back to the frame. At the end of the day, we tidied up and packed away material and equipment.
