Positive Behaviours for Learning

We are so excited to be launching Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL) with the students and school community in Term 3. PBL is a framework that we will be using to teach the children about expected behaviours in different parts of the school.

The children will have a weekly social skills lesson on a Monday identifying a specific social skill we would like the children to learn and practice around our school expectations of

RESPECT

RESPONSIBILITY and

KINDNESS

We are now in the process of developing a matrix of social skills we would like to teach. e.g. What does respect look like in the learning space?

We will have our PBL launch day on Monday 25th July. A big thanks to the P and F who have arranged for a toastie truck to come to SFS for a special lunch on the day. Please make sure that you return your form and money by Tuesday 19th July.

The children are allowed to come dressed in their brightest casual clothes to celebrate the day.

If the children have a T shirt or a jumper with a positive slogan or message they might like to wear that. The children will learn more about what PBL is all about, participate in their launch lesson learning a particular social skill and participate in other activities related to PBL and our key expectations.

We will have a special assembly on Monday 25th July at 2.30pm for PBL, parents are most welcome to attend in Learning Space 3. We are all excited about our special launch day!

SFS Twilight Market and Art show

We are eagerly anticipating our annual SFS Twilight Community market and Art Show which will be held on Thursday 3rd November from 5pm until 8pm. There are a variety of stalls booked in including clothing, homeware, jewellery and some delicious food trucks. Start the countdown, 16 weeks to go!

New Child Safe Standards

At SFS, Child safety is at the forefront of our mind and we have standards in pace to ensure that ensure we are a Child safe school.

There are new child safe standards that will came into effect on July 1st 2022. The aims of these 11 standards are to:

  • promote the safety of all children
  • prevent child abuse
  • ensure effective processes are in place to respond to and report all allegations of child abuse.

Child Safe Standard 4 –

Families and communities are informed, and involved in promoting child safety and wellbeing In complying with Child Safe Standard 4, an organisation must, at a minimum, ensure:

4.1 Families participate in decisions affecting their child.

4.2 The organisation engages and openly communicates with families and the community about its child safe approach and relevant information is accessible.

4.3 Families and communities have a say in the development and review of the organisation’s policies and practices.

4.4 Families, carers and the community are informed about the organisation’s operations and governance.

Action for Happiness calendar

The theme for July’s Action for is Jump back up July.

The focus is on doing activities to get back outside to help clear your mind. Try some of these activities with your family.
