WINTER VACATION CARE

Well we had a very busy Winter Vacation Care program as we converted the Art Space in LS1 into our Lunchtime Kitchen.  We brought in two portable fridge/freezers, pie warming oven, induction cook tops, air fryers, chilled drink dispenser, microwave, bain maries, steamer and rice cookers. 

Each day we “travelled” to various countries learned about the various cultures, looked at the variety of buildings and landmarks of each country and ate warm lunches at the “dinner table”, decorated with artefacts, photos, images and colours representing the country.

It was quite a bit of work for our staff but we pulled it off with many positive reactions from the children and parents.  We discussed with the children about table manners, ie how you are expected to sit, eat, manage conversations, be patient when queueing and to manipulate the various serving implements, great for fine motor development.

We saw a definite change as children attended throughout the two weeks.

And we also celebrated Sarah’s Birthday during the holidays.
