Be Brave, Make Change

News from AET

National Reconciliation Week 27th May-3rd June

Last week students and staff of LNPS spent time acknowledging and celebrating National Reconciliation Week in the following ways:

  • Discussing the meaning of Reconciliation.
  • Breaking down the theme for NRW22: Be Brave, Make Change.
  • Looking at ways that we as individuals can be brave and make positive changes in our lives.
  • Exploring Australia's history and discussing the impacts this has on modern day.
  • A fundraiser for Children's Ground. A non-profit organisation creating a different future with First Nations children, families and communities experiencing the greatest levels of disadvantage.

We had also planned for the oval to be marked with the NRW22 logo alongside our LNPS logo and hold a short presentation. Unfortunately, due to poor weather conditions last week this had to be cancelled.

Reconciliation is important because we are acknowledging the past and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. It  means to respect and make relationships with each other. To be kind and care for each other.  - Mollie Pohlner F15

Wear it Yellow for Children's Ground

A big thank you to all staff and students who added a splash of yellow to their wardrobe last Friday, 3rd June in support of the non-profit organisation Children’s Ground.

Thanks to the donations of our LNPS community we raised $445. This donation will go towards supporting first nations children, their families and communities in education, health, cultural development and language preservation.
