Welcome to Term 3!
We are definitely off and running this term! A snapshot is below:
On Wednesday the Treasurer of Victoria, Mr Tim Pallas, visited us to formally announce the funding allocation for our new school and that we will be moving to the old Wanganui Park Secondary College site.
Check out the media coverage we attracted on the next page featuring members from our Student Representative Council (SRC) students starring!
Currently we are working with Perkins Architects to develop a schematic design. Towards the end of this term we will be able to share and consult on the details of this with our school community.
Yesterday we launched our first Parent Network Morning Tea hosted by our Social Worker, Sarah Keenan. It was fantastic to see parents back on site, connecting and collaborating.
Clare Rich from Rights, Information, Advocacy Centre (RIAC) presented to parents/carers about what RIAC can support with as an independent advocacy group.
Stay tuned to Seesaw and social media for dates, times and details of our next meeting.
Seven students at Verney Road School have been given a helping hand, thanks to a donation of communication iPads from the State Schools' Relief.
Chief Executive Officer, Sue Karzis, visited on-site to present these iPads and see first-hand the benefits they bring to non-verbal students at VRS.

There are two upcoming student-free days this term:
🟡 Student Support Group (SSG) Day – Friday, 29th July
🟡 Whole Staff Professional Learning Day – Wednesday, 10th August
Teachers will make contact shortly to arrange a suitable time for your child's SSG meeting.
For your information, Shepparton Police and Shepparton Highway Patrol will be conducting a traffic operation over the next couple of weeks targeting poor driver behaviour in school zones throughout the Shepparton area.
There are in excess of 20 schools within the Shepparton area that police are targeting, and they have advised us this will include our school zone at some point during the operation.
A reminder that staff supervision commences from 8:30am - students are not to arrive on-site before this time unless prior arrangements have been made.
Ange will be away from school for three weeks from the start of August (Weeks 4-6). During this time Carolyn will be Acting Principal.
