Questacon

Late last month, Jirana and Leisha from Questacon (Canberra) came to run workshops for students in Gimmel, Dalet and Hey. This was part of the “Questacon smart skills tour” that is designed to engage young people in innovation, technology, engineering and design thinking. The students had fun exploring the topic of electricity, circuits, conductors and insulators through the quirky project of making a game controller out of everyday items usually found at home.

Through this workshop, students also got the opportunity to learn what is a “design cycle” and experience how design is a continuous process of identifying a need, planning, making, and improving. Besides all the fun, it was a great opportunity for our students to develop their problem solving skills, teamwork and resilience.

For students who are keen to experience more of these fantastic programs, you are very fortunate. Questacon will be running the “Questacon Invention Conventions” in Mildura during the April school holidays. Places are limited. Register your interest by emailing Questacon directly.
