2014 INTER AND SENIOR SPORTS

Welcome to Sport for 2014. 

 

We have many events coming up in Term 1:

 

  • Senior Round Robin:  Thursday 13 March

  • Inter Round Robin -Monday 17 March
  • Sports Include - Softball, Baseball, Volleyball and Tennis

  • McKinnon Swimming Sports - Wednesday 26 February

SENIOR GIRLS CRICKET

On Monday 10 February the Senior Girls Cricket defeated Parkdale to win the Kingston Division of the Senior Girls Cricket.  Parkdale batted first making 59 runs off 10 overs with Sophie Paxinos (Year 12) taking 2 wickets.  McKinnon then batted and made 62 runs winning off the second last ball. Top scorer was captain Gina Clements (Year 12).

SENIOR BOYS CRICKET

On Monday 10 February the Senior Boys Cricket began their defense of the 2013 State Runners-up title, with a convincing display at King George Reserve.  The boys easily accounted for all of Bentleigh SC, Parkdale SC and Sandringham SC posting some massive scores in 8 over matches.  The boys scored 260 runs for the day, across the three matches in only 21 overs. The top 3 batsman Matt Jordan, Adam Schwarz and Lucas Hemming all making significant contributions in every match.  Good luck to the boys in the upcoming rounds.

JUNIOR SPORTS REPORT

Congratulations to all Year 7 & 8 students on a smooth start to the sport term. 

Please continue to encourage your child to have a water bottle (labelled) and wear sunscreen. 

All students require a hat if outside and walking to venue: 

·         Baseball – Bailey Reserve

·         Swimming – GESAC

·         Athletics – Duncan McKinnon

·         Volleyball – GESAC 

For those students in interschool sport they will be contemporary for the school against other Kingston division schools.  The following dates apply: 

YEAR 7 WEEKLY COMPETITION –Term 1

Round 1:  Parkdale v McKinnon - 25 Feb

Round 2:  Sandy v McKinnon - 4 Mar

Round 3:  Brighton v McKinnon - 11 Mar

Round 4:  McKinnon v Bentleigh - 18 Mar

Round 5:  (Bye) - 25 Mar 

YEAR 8 WEEKLY COMPETITION – Term 1

Round 1:  (Bye) - 14 Feb

Round 2:  Bentleigh v McKinnon - 28 Feb

Round 3:  Sandy 7-10/Beaumaris v McKinnon - 7 Mar

Round 4:  McKinnon v Parkdale - 14 Mar

Round 5:  Brighton v Parkdale - 21 Mar 

Final: Year 8 Round Robin- Friday 28 Mar AM (Week 9) 

It is our intention to allow all students to all to experience inter-school sport at some stage during the year if they desire.  We are limited by the number of teams other schools enter. 

Please encourage your student to continually check compass and newsfeed for arrangements. 

A reminder that students will be dismissed at 2:50pm from local venues to either walk home, walk back to school or get picked up by parents.
