seeing miracles

So, what is a miracle? Here are a couple of definitions:

1.   A really amazing event, thing, or achievement.

2.   An unusual or wonderful event that is believed to be caused through the power of God.

As I reflect on the first definition, many examples come to mind. I think of how precisely things are set up. The sun and the earth are just the right distance from each other, so the earth can support life. And then there is life itself. A few years ago, I found it fascinating to watch the journey of a caterpillar as it created a chrysalis and then emerged out as a beautiful monarch butterfly. Miraculous!

But what about the second definition?

It was only a few weeks ago that we celebrated Easter. Jesus dying on the cross for us… and then coming alive again. No words can adequately explain the impact of what happened. Being put to death in such a public way and then walking around alive days later, talking, eating, connecting with many people, not just close friends, is truly miraculous.

Over the course of this term we are going to be looking at a range of miracles recorded in the Bible. These miracles had a life changing impact on the people who experienced them, and on those who saw them happen.

I would love for us all to squeeze together into a time machine and go back and see these miracles for ourselves. (But we can’t, because of the social distancing rules that are currently in place…that, and the technology is yet to be invented!) But we can ‘see them’ in a different way.  Through God’s Word, the Bible.

As we explore them together, I pray that God would:

‘Open my (our) eyes to see the miracle- wonders hidden in your word’.

God bless your week!
