Sacrament of Confirmation

On Wednesday the 13th of July Alyssa, Amber, Ari, Chanel, Emerson, Nathan, Nick, Ridge, Sehas, Senuth and Tahlia made their Sacrament of Confirmation at the Queen of Peace Church. Clara made her sacrament on the 23rd of July, and she was confirmed by Bishop Martin Ashe.

Confirmation is the fourth Sacrament in the Catholic Church. During this Sacrament, the candidates who are confirmed receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the laying of the hand and anointing with oils by the Bishop or Priest. This Sacrament is the third and final Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. 

Thank you to all our staff at St Martin de Porres and the Preca Community for their help in supporting the students in the lead up to this day. 

A big thank you especially to our school choir and band who provided the music for the mass. We also thank the sponsors and families of the candidates for their support and guidance, and for making this a reverent and special occasion for all our students.

We are very proud of all of our students who were confirmed and congratulate them on reaching this special milestone.

Grandparents Day

On July 26th, we celebrate the Feast day of St. Joachim and St. Anne, who were the parents of Mary, the mother of Jesus. We can learn from their love for Mary and one another about how God wants us to live. They also serve as a reminder to honour our own grandparents and express our gratitude for the blessings they have lovingly passed on to us.

A prayer for our grandparents

Lord God almighty,

bless our grandparents

with long life, happiness and health.

May they remain constant in your love 

and be living signs of your presence

to their children and grandchildren.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
