Inquiry Learning this Term

Many of our grades have incorporated this term in their inquiries indigenous history. This will also influence some aspects of our concert. A rather timely inquiry to help the students make meaning of what they are hearing about in the media at the moment.

There have been many family events in Fed Square hosted by the Koorie Heritage Trust aimed at continuing to educate the younger members of our community. Following is another event coming up that you may enjoy as a family.

Meet Mr Beaky! Mr Beaky is a budgie that is making a difference. Mr Beaky is blue and white, not green and yellow, but he is still a native bird.

Join us for light refreshments with Mr Beaky, and authors Cassie and Sue, in a family friendly afternoon of sharing, creating and learning about what it means to be an Aboriginal person in Australia today.

Open to all ages, but especially young fans of Mr Beaky, take part in a fun Saturday crafternoon activity with Cassie and Mr Beaky. Cassie and Mr Beaky will also give a very special book reading, and personally sign copies of the book that will be available for purchase from the KHT's shopKOORIE.

An Important Message From Mr Beaky is suitable reading for ages 5-8.

Cassie Leatham is from the Taungurung people from the Kulin Nation. She is an Indigenous artist, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and educator. She is extremely passionate about teaching her skills to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students of all ages.
