Indonesian Update

Year 8B Cooks

On the 18th of May 8B Indonesian had Pak Nova and Bu Mona from Nova’s Balinese Kitchen visit their class.

They asked questions in Indonesian to Pak and Bu about life in Bali, particularly about schooling.  Afterwards they enjoyed learning how to cook traditional Indonesian food.

Pak Nova, Bu Mona and Bu Christie showed the class how to prepare and cook Balinese style fried rice (nasi goreng) with fried egg (telur mata sapi), fried noodles (mie goreng) and coconut filled pancakes (kue dadar).

The students had great fun developing their international cuisine skills and thoroughly enjoyed eating their meal! Many thanks (terima kasih banyak!) to Lynne Wheal and the kitchen staff for helping make the morning a great success!

Sayembara Lisan

This is an annual statewide Indonesian speaking competition where students get to show their skills in conversation.  On the 6th of June 15 students went to Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School in Ocean Grove and were asked set questions, read a passage and answered questions about it.

They were highly commended as ambassadors for Trinity College by the organisers.  After the event students thoroughly enjoyed a meal at Nova’s Balinese kitchen in Newtown, speaking some Indonesian to Pak Nova, Bu Mona and Bu Christie.

Congratulations to all students who entered and worked so diligently to prepare for the competition.  Well done all of you!
