TERM 2 HOLIDAY WORK EXPERIENCE STUDENTS

“During the first week of the holidays, I had Work Experience at Lower Murray Water. I chose to do a placement there because I am interested in Engineering and was told that they offered a good program. Over the week, I wanted to learn the differences between the three branches of engineers they had, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical as well as get an insight into what they performed on a day to day basis. Overall, the week was really interesting, and the highlight was going to the Seventh Street Water Treatment Plant and learning how it functioned and seeing the upgrade that was taking place. I would highly recommend for other students to participate in the Work Experience Program, to get an idea of what different careers entail.”

“My work placement was held at Amcal+ Pharmacy. I had been looking at pharmacy as a career path I wanted to take for a while now and this gave me the opportunity to participate in the community side of the field. I was hoping to learn more about dispensary and everything that happened there which I did learn about, but I also learned a lot about retail as well. After the program, I have decided that working in pharmacy will continue to be my main goal. I would recommend students participate in work experience as it gives students a new perspective on a career that they might want to pursue.”
