"The library is not just full of books, but also opportunities."
Abbey 2016
I say it every time, but I really do hope you all found some time to relax with a great story over the holiday period. Did you notice I didn’t say, “relax with a book” as this can imply you had time to actually sit and read a book and sometimes this is just not possible. So perhaps you were able to plug into an audio book on SORA, our school platform for audio and ebooks or the huge selection from the Town Library or you may have a subscription, and off you go. The house work is a breeze, the children are listening to a story in the car, so many options and occasions where listening can be the best option to enjoy a text and your children will love it and benefit from it. See the infograph below from “Sound Learning” https://www.audiopub.org/sound-learning for some interesting points.

"There is nothing unhealthy about books.
Sure, you need some sun and some exercise to remain healthy, but reading can also work wonders. According to the charity, The Reading Agency, learning to read for fun when you are young can have more of an impact on how your life goes than whether you grow up in a rich family or a poor family."
An interesting concept in our material possessions-driven world.
ALL WE NEED IS BOOKS... and you don't have to own them,
that's why we have libraries.
"The strongest positive impact on reading engagement and learning gains come from student self-selection of reading materials. When reading materials are selected for students the links to engagement and learning gain decline significantly."

LOTS and LOTS of NEW BOOKS to be borrowed with a LIBRARY BAG.
LIBRARY BAGS MATTER... Not just some of the time but all of the time.
No food or drink on my books.
Food and drink are for the chooks.
Library bags keep ‘em clean.
Books are cool don’t treat ‘em mean.
Bring your bag every time.
Fill it up and get in line.
Have it scanned and scoot on out.
LIBRARY BAGS
We all shout.
