From Mandy O'Mara

Dear Parents and Carers,

Today marks the midway point of term three.. and what a busy term it has been. The highlights have been; Pit Gym, 100 Days of School, Kinder visits, and multiple sporting events…and there is still so much to come; camps, excursion, and Book Week Dress Up Day, to mention just a few.

The new principal selection process is well underway. The job has been posted on Recruitment Online and the process should be finalised by the end of term three. The new principal will be commencing here at Epping Views Primary School on day one of term four.

You would be aware that Epping Views Primary School and the Department of Education have a policy related to students bringing mobile phones to school. This policy is available to view on our school website.  The policy dictates that if a child brings a mobile phone to school the phone must be locked up securely. Our teachers collect all mobile phones brought to school and return them to students at the end of each day. The policy can be found on our school website.

This week we had some preliminary feedback on Year 3 & Year 5  NAPLAN results. Initial results indicate some positive outcomes. Full NAPLAN reports will arrive in school towards the end of this term and will be released to parents as soon as possible.

On Tuesday 23rd August we will be celebrating Book Week. Each year since 1945 the Children’s Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. This year the theme for Book Week is:

”Dreaming with eyes open.”

We are looking forward to seeing some fabulous costumes and we are really excited about inviting parents to our parade. See the flyer for further details.

We are now well and truly in the planning phase for 2023 and as such it is important that we have a true and accurate indication of our student numbers for next year.  If you have neighbours or friends looking to enrol a student in 2023 please encourage them to contact us ASAP to organise enrolment forms.

If you are one of our existing families and relocating at the end of the year or leaving us for other reasons, please let us know as soon as possible.

Professional Practice Day

Please remember that our school will be closed on Monday 22nd of August. Staff will be participating in a Professional Practice Day. OSHC will be open for child care on the day.

Farewell Trudy Whewell

Next week we will farewell Trudy as she moves into her new role of Assistant Principal at the new Wollert West Primary School. On behalf of the whole school community I thank Trudy for her significant contribution over many years both at the Kinder and at the school.

I’m sure you will join me in wishing Trudy good luck in her new role.

Kind regards,

Mandy O’Mara

Acting Principal.
