Culture Club - Malaysia

Beatriz Clark

We are delighted to be able to run Culture Club again this term. We had several Malaysian parents come in to help plan the activities for Culture Club Malaysia. Thank you to all who attended our planning session on July 26.

Dr Nora presented the Geography and general information about Malaysia during our first session on August 5. Ms Annie Thomas was also at hand to help students label the states of Malaysia on the map as well as put together their own Malaysian flag and decorate a "wau" or Malyasian design kite.

During our second session on 19th August, our very own Malaysian/Australian teacher, Mr Chong presented the students with a PowerPoint that highlighted the many beautiful places to visit in Malaysia as well as Malaysian flora and fauna. The students were kept busy putting together the national flower, "bunga raya"or red hibiscus, and making Urangutan masks. Dr Nora brought a number of traditional clothes for the students to try on. They really enjoyed dressing in these richly ornate fabrics and modelling their sensational attire.

We would like to thank Ms Lee Tee Lim for spending many hours getting the craft materials ready for each session.
