We had our Book Week Dress Up Day today. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff join in. Thank you to so many parents/carers for your help in encouraging your child to join in on this event today.

Burrendah Primary School was recently acknowledged by the Defence Force for the support the school provides to the Defence Force Reserves. Mrs Whitcher is completing her initial training this year to be a member of the Defence Force Reserves.  On behalf of the Department of Education and Burrendah Primary School, I would like to thank Mrs Whitcher for nominating Burrendah PS for these awards.  While we were not the overall winner it was a great event to be a part of.

Congratulations to our Interschool Cross Country team who competed last week. While we were fourth overall, our team tried hard with a number of personal goals being reached. Thank you to Mr Turner and Mr Crouch for all of their hard work in helping our students prepare for this event. Congratulations also to four of our students who received a medal, Astoria, Lachlan, Chase, and Jude.

It is pleasing to see our Covid case numbers continuing to decline. RAT tests (20 per child) are still available from the canteen this afternoon from 2:30pm until 3:15pm.  We will also have RAT tests available for families at our Athletics carnival in three weeks time.

Burrendah PS encourages families of Kindergarten to Year 2 to catch up with one another after school from 3:00-3:30pm in the ECE playground.  It has come to my attention that older children are remaining in this area with their younger siblings and no adult.  Children can only be in this area if they are in the care of a responsible adult.

School equipment in this area is being damaged after school such as the sandpit toys and basketball stand. Equipment is put away after lunchtime play and should not be taken out by anyone after school. I ask that parents/carers monitor their own children to ensure they are playing safely. So cleaners can lock gates all families need to leave this area by 3:30pm.

Our choir students had their first Massed Choir Rehearsal yesterday with other schools.  It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to attend, particularly for the younger students who have not been part of the Massed Choir before.  The choir will have another rehearsal in the last week of term before performing at the Perth Concert Hall Wednesday evening 21st September.

The P & C will have a Father’s Day Stall at the canteen before school this Monday 29th August and if not sold out also on Friday 2th September. See the P & C page in the newsletter for more information.
