COVID-19 | Term 3, 2022

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Term 3 is always a very busy term, and this year is no exception. We have the added issue of COVID-19 and cases are expected to surge in the next few weeks according to government estimates. We are endeavouring to do everything we can to keep our students and staff as safe as possible. To make matters worse, the reinfection period is reduced to 28 days so it’s possible for students and staff to contract this virus twice in one term.

Mask wearing

We will be trialling mandatory mask wearing for students and staff in the café for the first two weeks of term. Students entering and placing orders in the café will be required to wear a mask and there will not be any indoor seating. Students using our online ordering system, will not need a mask to collect their food from the window. We will revisit this requirement and make any needed adjustments at the end of Week 2.

In classrooms, where physical distancing is not possible, we encourage students and staff to wear masks. This is not mandatory.

The close contact rules remain the same.

From the date you were last in contact with the infectious person you must have a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test:

  • three days of becoming a close contact
  • on day six of becoming a close contact
  • for seven days wear a mask when indoors at a place which is not your residence
  • for seven days wear a mask when outdoors when you cannot maintain a distance of 1.5 metres from other people
  • for seven days avoid visiting high risk settings such as a hospital, disability shared care house, residential aged care facility or correctional facility

Please be aware that a person’s infectious period is usually the 2 days before they developed symptoms, or 2 days before they tested positive if they did not have symptoms.

Also if you have had COVID , the current requirements are that you must wear a mask for 7 days after you leave isolation.

The physical and mental wellbeing of our staff and students is my primary focus this term.
