Acting Principal's Message

Diverse ~ Accepting ~ Inclusive Community

Welcome Back!

It is with great pleasure, I commence the second semester of 2022 in the role of Acting Principal.

Term 3 is a short 9-week term and I’ve got my L plates on while Mr Herbert is away on his well-deserved sabbatical. I look forward to the support of the St Philip’s community as I navigate my way leading such a vibrant and enthusiastic group of staff and students.

A special welcome to our new Maths and Physics teacher, Mr Yogesh Maharaj. He’s arrived from Fiji with his wife and daughter. I’d also like to welcome Mr Andrew MacDougall (Head of Boys’ Boarding) and Mrs Lisa-Marie Burgoyne (Events, Marketing and Communications).

We are still in the midst of our Outdoor Education expeditions with our Year 10 students flying to Melbourne on Sunday for Woollangara, six groups of Year 9s Endeavour departed early in the week along with the Mittagundi groups on Wednesday.

The theme this term is Acceptance which follows on from the Diversity and Inclusivity themes in Terms 1 and 2.

Now that we understand how diverse our school community is with 28 different nationalities, cultures and languages and we recognize how important it is for each individual to feel included, we are focusing on accepting everyone for who they are, what colour of the rainbow they identify with, what part of the spectrum they are associated and even which team they barrack for – the important part is that every member of our community feel accepted.

Starting this new semester, gives everyone a clean slate and the chance to refocus on priorities. I hope everyone takes advantage of this fresh start and has the courage to demonstrate kindness and compassion to everyone and has the courage to make the most of any opportunities that come your way.

Have Courage and Be Kind.

Thank you.

Leslie Tilbrook

Acting Principal
