Book Week at St. Raphael's

Book Week 2022 will run from August 20-26. During Book Week, the students at St. Raphael's will read and respond to various Book Week books and complete creative activities based on them. Some students may work across year levels and with different homeroom teachers.

We are looking forward to dreaming with our eyes wide open.

Book Week Celebration Day Friday 26th August

On Friday 26th of August we will celebrate Book week as a whole school with a performance, dress-up parade and assembly.

PERFORMANCE

Students will experience the  ‘The Labyrinth in the Library’ performance presented by School Performance Tours. The performance will take place in the school hall. The Foundation and Year 1/2 show will begin at 9 am and the Year 3-6 show will begin at 10:30 am. We look forward to an amazing show!

DRESS UP & PARADE

Our parade will take place at 2:30 pm on the netball courts, parents are welcome to attend.

We invite teachers and students to come to school dressed as their favourite book characters (no sporting heroes). Get creative and create your own designs; you don't need to purchase a costume.

Here are some simple D.I.Y ideas. https://www.simplifycreateinspire.com/book-week-costume-ideas/

Students who do not wish to dress up can wear their usual school uniform on the day.

ASSEMBLY

After our parade, the students will head into the hall to listen to a special story created by very talented authors. Parents are also welcome to attend our assembly.

Engaging in Book Week at Home -Part 2

Have a dress-up day at home: what better way to celebrate stories than becoming the characters in them! Ask your children to dress up as their favourite character from a book. You could even let them have fun making their own outfits and props in class.

Hold a book club: set up a fun family book club where you can all enjoy discussing books and stories in more detail. Make it relaxed, and cosy, and don't forget the snacks!

Get creative: get arty by drawing their favourite characters from different books, creating their own personalised bookmarks or even designing their own book covers. Get out the paints, crayons and glitter, and have some fun!
