WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY - MOTHER'S DAY!

It is almost that time again when we acknowledge, celebrate, pamper and let our mum’s or that very special female person in our lives know just how much we appreciate them.

These amazing people in our lives do so much for us everyday that it is important to make this day extra special.

While treating mum by taking her out to a cafe, shopping or even spoiling her to a special relaxation treatment are awesome there are so many other things we can do.

To show how much we appreciate them that doesn't cost a lot of money remember that the thought and effort you put into showing her this far outweighs the gift itself.

Here are a few suggestions, you could do at home:

  • Let her have a sleep in or even just relax in bed without having to try to pretend she is sleeping.
  • Make her favourite breakfast - pancakes (buy the pancake mix, add water, shake, in the pan for a few minutes – done!) with strawberries, banana and yoghurt are a great suggestion.
  • Make your very own Mother’s Day card and make sure you write something inside that is special - a special memory you have or perhaps a poem.
  • Kids – make your bed, tidy your room and make sure you clean up after yourself for the day.
  • Dads – putting the washing on and don’t forget to hang it out.
  • Dads and kids – vacate the house for a couple of hours to leave mum soak up the serenity.
  • If you have managed to buy or make a present, hide it in the house somewhere and give mum clues to find it.
  • Let mum choose the movie you can all watch together (remember it is Mother’s Day) or let her watch it by herself – I’m sure she would appreciate just some mum time too!
  • What ever you do, remember it is Mother's Day ALL DAY!

Whatever you do as a family to make this Mother’s Day special, I am sure she will cherish it forever as it is moments like these that the thought (but don’t forget to do it too) makes a big difference!

Happy Mother’s Day for Sunday 9th May!

NAPLAN: NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM – LITERACY AND NUMERACY

Tuesday 11th May is the first day of NAPLAN testing for Years 3, 5, 7, and 9 nationally. These tests at Maramba are now conducted online so they will run over a two-week period with the last day of testing being Friday 21st May.

NAPLAN tests the sorts of skills that are the building blocks for every child’s academic progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy. It is important to remember that NAPLAN tests are not pass/fail tests and hey do not assess what makes each of our students special. At the classroom level, it is one of a number of important tools we use to support teachers in providing differentiated learning for all students to progress their learning and experience success.

It is vital that ALL students have a healthy and hearty breakfast to kick-start their body and minds for the day ahead. Ensure we ALL arrive at school on time on these days to ensure they are settled, confident and ready to start their test to achieve the very best they can.

Kind regards,

Darren Wallace
