Information and Communication Technology News

Ms Maria Nasioulas

Since COVID last year the use of ICT at St John’s has grown substantially. Microsoft Office Teams has been used for collaboration, communication and Parent/Teachers/Interviews while SEQTA has been used by teachers to develop online lessons for students to access information, engage with interactive activities and communicate with parents or carers. It was wonderful to meet and greet a group of new Year 7 parents at the Parent Information Evening on the 1st March and who were amazed at the capacity of our systems. Central to the use of the internet was the discussion on the welfare of our students. Resources were distributed to parents and carers to help their sons and daughters to have safe online experiences.

Common questions included:

  • How much time should my son or daughter be on their device?
  • What should I do if I think my son or daughter is being bullied online?

For excellent information, resources and advice visit the following website or speak to a teacher at the school.

SEQTA is one of the main modes of communication between our teachers, the school and parents. A letter with instructions and credentials was sent early in term 1. I strongly urge all parents and carers to install the app SEQTA Engage to access school information and communication. If a problem exists with your specific username or password please ring the school on 87932000.
