Good morning staff and students,
Firstly I want to wish everyone a Happy Easter and safe break.
To most of us, Easter is a time where we come together with our families and indulge in some chocolate eggs or hot cross buns. However, even though this aspect of it is great (especially for all of us chocolate lovers), it is important to remember the deeper meaning of this period.
Easter is a time of reflection for Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection. With Holy Week and Lent coming to an end, for myself it has provided me with lots of reflection. Even though I didn’t give up anything for this year, I made an active effort to express gratitude and turn my “I have too’s” into “I get too”. Quite often, it is easy to take even the simplest things for granted such as: the opportunity to attend school and learn, the new beginning for growth each day, or even having those around us who support us throughout our lives. Just as Jesus resurrected and always acted from a place of love, I think it is important for each of us to reflect on the blessings in our lives, and continuously push ourselves to follow in the footsteps of his example.
“In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:3)

Easter, and in fact the whole of Holy Week has always played an integral role in my own faith development. The deep sense of solemnity and reverence during this liturgical season is somewhat nostalgic, reminiscent of my childhood which composed of traditional preparations for Holy Week (processions and novenas). For the Church, Holy Week is a time of self-reflection and assessment. And so, I invite the whole college community to participate in the upcoming Holy Week masses and liturgies at their local parish. I also encourage the community to begin or to continue praying the Holy Rosary with your families, especially during this time, as it provides a cause of reflection that unifies and bonds each member of the family; “families that pray together, stay together.”
